Getting to Know TCL!

We welcome you to join us in our journey through the wonderful world of reading!  Below is a listing of what services are offered by TCL, how you can use them, and how we can all be better library patrons.
Library Services

This one goes without saying.  We have books to loan, and they are FREE!!

Inter-Library Loan
Looking for something that we don't have?  Through the use of ILL we can get other libraries to loan items to us so that you can borrow them!

Free Wi-Fi
Our wi-fi is free to patrons. You must have a valid library card in order to use our wi-fi.  As a reminder, the library is a public network, so always be careful about what information you send out.

Public Computers
We have public computers that can be used by our patrons.  Children under twelve must be accompanied by a parent/guardian while online.

We will make black and white copies (or prints) for $.10 per page.  Color copies (or prints) are $.25 per page.

We offer faxing services for $1 per page.  We can send or receive faxes.  If you need to receive a fax at the library, you will need to arrange it with us ahead of time.

We will scan documents to your removable storage device (USB flash drives, hard drives, or CDs; we do not have the ability to save to memory cards), or email them to you for $1 per page.  We will not scan images or documents that are copyrighted or trademarked by someone else.

Notary Public
We offer notary public services to all patrons.  Fees are based on the official State of Texas Fee Schedule.  Our notary is not always at the library; call first to make sure she is available!

Rental of the Ruth Stetson Community Center
Host your next get-together at the community center!

Free Programs
TCL offers free programs on an ever-changing basis.  From Summer Reading for the little ones, to book clubs for adults, to CPR classes for everyone, you never know what we'll be doing next!

TCL provides access to the internet, free of charge, to library patrons.  In order for us to better facilitate this access, we require users to read and comply with our Acceptable Use Policy.

Code of Conduct

The Tarkington Community Library encourages people of all ages to visit the library.  Those using the library and its resources have the right to expect a safe, comfortable environment that supports appropriate library services. Read about our Code of Conduct.

Fine and Lost Material Policy

Library materials are for the use of all patrons. In order to encourage the prompt return of borrowed materials, TCL assesses a fine for any borrower that fails to return materials on or before their due dates.
Patrons are encouraged to read the Fine and Lost Material Policy.

Weapons Policy
For the safety of our patrons, weapons of any kind
are not allowed on library premises.  Read more about this in our Code of Conduct.
