Thomas Lee (Bud) Sprinkle (1919 - 2012)

Members of the Tarheel Racing Pigeon Club of Salisbury, NC lost a great friend and club member, Bud Sprinkle. He was a Charter Member of TRC which was formed in April 1959. He flew as the C&S Loft in partners with his brother-in law until his brother-in-law's death, and would never change the name. Bud held the job of Secretary-Treasurer for both the TRC club and the North Carolina Combine for over 50 years.

He sold pigeon feed from his garage for many years and all the flyers around went there for feed and "pigeon talk". Bud was active as long as he could in releasing birds at the Special Olympics.

Bud never married and lived with his sister and niece, Nancy Clarke. His sidekick was a great, great nephew, Coleman, who came often to the club with Bud and also helped in Bud's feed business.

Bud was a veteran of the US Navy during World War II and served on the USS Delta. He was also in the Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post #342 for 64 years, Fulton Masonic Lodge #99 A.F. and A.M.

He worked for the Southern Railway for 33 years as a boilermaker and retired in 1979.

Our friend Bud will be truly missed - he was a real "Southern Gentleman".

Roy Brown
We are truly saddened at the loss of Roy Brown, one of our TRC members. Roy passed away on November 28, 2009. Roy was a long time member of the Winston Racing Pigeon Club, as well as the Tarheel Racing Pigeon Club. He was loved by many, had a great personality, and was truly a Southern Gentleman. Even though he had to give up his pigeons in the last few years, he never hesitated to support and be a part of his club. He will be missed.

Bob Robbins
We are sad to report that one of our fellow combine members, Bob Robbins, made his last trip to the loft yesterday (11/11/08). Like a true pigeon fancier, he was found in the loft where he had passed. He was a great man and a wonderful flier. Bob will definitely be missed.
