Dear TAO Foundation Members,

Greetings! This is the Director’s Letter for the first quarter of 2006. Let me begin by saying that I hope you are all well and enjoying your lives and work.

The Foundation Board of Director’s met on March 18, 2006 and made many decisions. Sara Pierce and Mary Ellen Rayner were elected as new directors. The term for directors has been set for three years and commencement dates are staggered to prevent the termination of all directors in any given year.

In addition, the board approved the election of several other people. Jan will contact these people to discuss their interest and report back to the board directors. It was decided to start a National Advisory Board, and three initial people were approved. These names will be released when they have all been contacted and agree to function in this capacity.

Kim Lajoie volunteered and was elected as Chairperson for Membership. She is preparing letters to the Founding Members, the new apprentices and other IA teachers inviting them to join the TAO Foundation. It was decided to invite other energy workers and professionals to become members of the TAO Foundation in order to make the Foundation more integrative and inclusive.

We unanimously agreed that two committees will be formed to start developing policies/ procedures, guidelines and requirements for TAO Foundation events and TAO Foundation working staff. At this time, the only requirement for this 2006 funding year is that working staff are IA graduates and a member of the TAO Foundation.

We also reviewed and approved the new website of the TAO Foundation. It is now operative. The website is: www.TAOFoundationinc.

As I hope most of you know, we received a grant from the Symington Foundation late last year. The events for the Symington Grant were discussed and the following timeline and design were approved:

Symington Grant Events:

  1. The one-day free public workshop - Learn to Boost Your Immune System - will be at the Sheraton City Centre on Saturday, May 13, 2006 from 10am to 4pm. Jan Cendese will be the presenter at this workshop.
  2. The Research Initiative has been set for the following dates:
    1. Pre-tests - July 25 through Aug. 9, 2006 - Several volunteers for the Foundation have agreed to be trained to complete these pre-tests.
    2. 1st weekend of table sessions - Thurs. 8/10, Fri. 8/11 and Sat. 8/12
    3. 2nd weekend of table sessions - Thurs. 8/17, Fri 8/18 and Sun. 8/20. The second one-day free public workshop - Learn to Boost Your Immune System - will be held on Sat. 8/19 and Mary Ellen Rayner will be the presenter.
    4. 3rd weekend of table sessions - Thurs. 8/24, Fri. 8/25 and Sat. 8/26.
    5. There will be five table sessions per day for three days.
    6. There will be fifteen women in the treatment group and the same number women in the control group.
    7. The post-tests will be done Sept. 2 thru Sept. 9, 2006. Several volunteers for the Foundation have agreed to be trained to complete these post-tests.

Note to the Founding Members: This is your first opportunity to work with the TAO Foundation. You are invited to call or email me as soon as possible to sign up for one of these weekends. It will be on a “first come, first serve” basis. The research initiative needs two IA teachers for each weekend. Geoffrey Leigh, Kim Lajoie, Mary Ellen Rayner, and Sara Pierce and I have all committed to doing this initiative. At this time, we only need two more IA Teachers to commit. I have two guest rooms in my home in which two visiting teachers may stay. We will provide basic food and lodging. You will be paid $60 per table session. So, you are looking at paying for your airfare and any spending money.

We are so excited to be doing this research, offering IA to people who can really use it and having a chance to get together to learn, explore and further our skills. Thank you so much for your support in the TAO Foundation. Your enthusiastic involvement is continuing to enhance the spirit in which the Foundation is growing and expanding.

Wishing you the best in each moment,

Jan Cendese, LCSW, LMT, Certified IA® Teacher
Executive Director
