Ah, summer weather has finally arrived, time for picnics, baseball games, swimming

and gathering with neighbors at Tanglewood Lake. What could be better? Well for

Tanglewood residents re-opening the Beach and Lake is high on the list.

It’s tough to swim in an empty lake. The lake-dredging project has been repeatedly

stalled due to lousy weather and broken equipment. Will we get our lake back in time to

enjoy summer? It looks promising, based upon weather improvement and the contractor’s

concerted effort to finish the project. Our beautiful lake serves the community as a gathering

place, a scenic view, and a source of recreation and relaxation. It’s an incredible asset for

us. We love it too much to lose it and siltification was slowly killing our lake.

That’s why we needed to dredge it in the first place. The curious can go to our newly

designed website, tanglewoodlake.com, for a slide show explaining why. The amount of

silt was severe enough that it was hard to dip a paddle from a canoe without hitting mud

on the golf course side of the lake. I thought I was having a spiritual experience when I

witnessed some kid walking on water last summer!

If you are desperate to add water to your summer, CVAC offers a summer membership.

For families with kids, Geauga Lake Wildwater Park is 10 minutes away and costs around

$220 for a family of four. We have been members for several years and the kids love it.

Neighbors, I know it’s a disappointment, but it could be a lot worse, other parts of

the country are dredging mud out of their homes, not their lake. We look forward, along

with you, to celebrate the reopening of Tanglewood Lake! Keep checking our website for

news.
