Welcome to 5th!!

Dear 5th Grade Parents,

Welcome to a new school year!  We are excited to get the ball rolling on a fun filled year of 5th grade activities!   Please read below to find out about volunteer needs, paying 5th grade activity fees, and a general description of the 5th grade activities.   **Don't forget to attend the 5th grade parent meeting on Thurs., August 24th from 3:30-4:30.

Sign up for a committee:

Click here to go to the volunteer sign up page and select the committee that you would like to help with. A description of each is at the bottom of this email.  Each committee will need 1-2 leads and committee members.   We would like to have our committees in place by August 25th.   Please sign up with your interest, and we will follow up with the final committee list and details on meeting.

Pay your activity fees:

The fee for 5th grade activities is $30 per student.  This covers the cost of a 5th grade t-shirt, a memory book, and 5th grade promotion.

*** Committee Descriptions ***

Brownie Sales – Organize and obtain baked goods to sell at various  school events such as Open House, I Sing America, and Artapalooza (only at gallery night, not during the day). Perfect for a person who owns a bakery or has a connection to getting baked goods donated!

 Popsicles - Organize and sell popsicles in the park after school on given Fridays to help raise money for 5th grade activities.  Ice chests provided by Committee chairs 

 Community Service - Organize and run 2 service projects (ideas are collecting school supplies in the fall and Harvest Project in the spring)

 Pumpkin Patch - This is a fundraiser held at the carnival to sell pumpkins decorated by our 5th graders

 "I Sing America" - Coordinate with 5th Grade teachers and Music Teacher to help with music program

 Memory Book - Perfect for a graphic designer or someone creative and gifted with online photobooks and comfortable working with websites such as Tree ring.  Work with our 5th grade photographers on designing the 5th grade memory book.  Need someone on the committee to organize a drop box for parents to submit photos from K-5.   Every child gets a page in the book!

 Photography - Need a few experienced photographers to catch photos of our 5th graders at all events and work with Memory Book Chair

 Wizard of Oz Trial - Lawyers with a little extra time would have lots of fun with this!   Spend time with the kids practicing on courtroom order.   Trials take place in 3 courtrooms.

 Promotion – Organize and plan 5th Grade Promotion and Party including; Reserving facility, planning party details, and soliciting help from several 5th grade families to help make this extra special event a huge success for our kids.   

 T-Shirts – Collaborate with 5th grade students on designing and selecting/voting on a shirt theme.  Have shirt design submitted and shirts ordered for kids to wear the last Thursday in September.  5th graders get to wear this special shirt on the last Thursday of the month throughout the year!
