Tamas Tofalvy // Digital media, Journalism, Popular Music

I am a researcher, analyst and non-profit activist interested in the cultural construction of digital media platforms, writing mainly about journalism, media policy and popular music scenes.

Currently I am assistant professor at Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Department of Sociology and Communications, secretary general of the Association of Hungarian Content Providers (MTE) and research fellow at Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) Media research group. I hold a PhD in Science, Technology and Society Studies. 

In the 2012-13 academic year I lived in New York City as a Fulbright fellow at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Previously I held a Julius Rezler visiting research fellowship at Indiana University Bloomington, College of Humanities and Arts, I was an associate PhD-student at Institute Nicod, Paris, a research institute maintained by the École normale supérieure, the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) and the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS).
