Welcome to the "Take Note" Website

"Take Note" is an entertainment group that plays to the elderly and disabled groups in the Somerset area and helps to raise money for charity.  Formed in  2004 with the help of lottery funding, "Take Note" provides light entertainment in day centres, nursing homes, to those with learning difficulties and in sheltered accommodation.

The aim has always been to lift the spirits, raise a smile and more than anything, get the audience involved.  People love to sing and the group takes great pride in producing a programme which will get people singing along.  This popular concept has led to bookings by Garden Clubs, Friendly Societies and Over Sixties Clubs as well.  The infectious enjoyment of singing, which emanates from the group, is quickly taken up by everyone present..  The repertoire extends from songs from the twenties to more recent popular numbers, there are usually a couple of comedy turns and a poem or two thrown in to provide variety, Old Time Music Halls give the opportunity to dress up.  Themed programmes can be arranged and of course, everyone enjoys the Christmas performances.

There is no shortage of singing talent in the group and solo performances of ballads such as "Bless this House", "Mull of Kintyre" and "We'll Gather Lilacs in the Spring" are always well received.  Funny songs like "I'm shy Mary Ellen" and "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah" usually raise a laugh.  Poems from Pam Ayres, Stanley Holloway and others never fail to get a smile.

"Take Note" relies on donations from performances to provide the necessary income to keep the group going.  These, often generous, donations usually allow "Take Note" to help local charities each year.  Charities helped include South Somerset Links, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, Snapdragon Majorettes, The Elms Children's Home, Yeovil Freewheelers, Mussgrove Park Hospital OSNA Fund and St Margaret's Hospice.

In 2011 "Take Note" was honoured by the Queen and presented with the "Queens Award for voluntary Service" in recognition of the dedication of the members, giving their time and effort in the entertainment of the Elderly of Somerset.
