IMPORTANT NOTE:
Piano Duo (Two Piano, Four Hands): scheduled to be on 3rd and 4th October.
Piano Duet (One Piano, Four Hands): scheduled to be on 4th and 5th October.

Piano Duo (Two Pianos, Four Hands):
(1) Choose one movement from Mozart Sonata in D Major, KV448 (no repetition is allowed)
(2) Wen-Tze Lu’s The Water and Fire Cave from “The Sketch of the Southern Taiwan” (about 1 min.)
(3) One or more of your own choice
*Total time limit: 13 - 15 minutes (including the above required works)
Piano Duet (One Piano, Four Hands):

The sheet music of Wen-Tze Lu for The Water and Fire Cave will be sent by email within seven days of receiving your registration. If you do not receive it within that time, please contact us.
To protect the composer’s copyright, please do not share the sheet music upon receiving it. This piece of music cannot be performed in public. If we become aware of any composer’s copyright infringement, we will take the initiative to notify the composer and assist in maintaining the relevant rights.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
If there are more than 20 pairs of duos/duets participants, the competition will be separated into two rounds. All first round duos/duets will play the Mozart required work and Wen-Tze Lu’s The Water and Fire Cave. After elimination, the remaining final round duos/duets will play their own pieces of choice. Results of the first round will be considered together with the results of the final round.
The participants are required to prepare their performance based on the original score editions according to the Piano duo/duet list from The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians. Participants must choose a duo/duet piece. Solo pieces are not allowed.
Participants may choose a work or group of works, including a complete piece, selected piece(s) from a suite, or movement(s) within a sonata.
Participants are asked to check and carefully to comply with both upper and/or lower time limits. Failure to keep within the time limits set (including gaps between pieces) will mean that the performance may be stopped and marks may be reduced at the Jury’s discretion.

◆All winners and their supervisor will receive a certificate and a trophy.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
All participants will receive a certificate.
Winners’ Concert: The top five competitors will be invited to perform in a Winners’ Concert on 6th October.
If fewer than three pairs enter the competition, then one pair can be chosen by judges as the winner.
If four to six pairs enter the competition, then two pairs can be chosen by judges as winners.
If seven to fifteen pairs enter the competition, then three pairs can be chosen by judges as winners.
If sixteen to twenty pairs enter the competition, then four pairs can be chosen by judges as winners.
If twenty-one or more pairs enter the competition, then five pairs can be chosen by judges as winners.
If two pairs obtain the same ranking according to judges, then the total prize money for those places will be shared equally between the two pairs.
The winners must pay their own 20% income tax on winnings. Passport and photocopy must be presented in order to claim the prize money.
The winners will be decided by jury’s votes.
Some duos/duets may be awarded the Jury’s Award of Excellence. However, the jury reserves the final right to decide if a duo/duet qualifies for such an award.
If the allotted time is exceeded, the jury will and has the right to interrupt and terminate the competitor’s performance.
Evaluations from jurors will be available after the competition.
The Jury can decide on how time violations affect the result.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
A person can register for more than one category.
Registration will begin on 1st July and will close on 31st August according to the competitor’s own time zone. Registration applications can be sent first, and then the Committee will inform the participant of the payment methods.
The application must include:
1. A copy or scan of a valid passport, showing a recent photograph, date of birth, and nationality of the competitor.
2. The completed registration form.
3. All documents must be sent electronically.
A participant’s date and time of the competition will be determined randomly and will be notified by Email on September 16th. If you haven’t received this Email by September 19th, please check on our official website or Facebook page.

Please provide your Passport or ID along with three copies of original music scores to the registration desk before the competition begins.
Participants are allowed to read from musical scores and this will not affect the juror’s final decision.
Contestants must provide their own page-tuner if required.
The competition cannot legally allow anyone to perform from photocopied music. Participants who attempt to use photocopied music will be disqualified unless they can produce written evidence showing that the publisher’s agreement has been sought and given prior to the start of the class.
If the piece performed is different from that specified by the registration closing date, the performer will not be eligible for a prize and jury’s feedback.
If a participant is found to be dishonest or has misrepresented in anyway whatsoever, they will be immediately disqualified. Any award or financial remuneration received by fraudulent gain must be returned without delay. All registration fees will be forfeited in this instance.
Participants must register before their allotted performance time. Participants will be called no more than 3 times. If they are unavailable to perform after the 3rd attempt, they will be disqualified.
Formal concert attire and footwear is required for all participants.
Mobile phones must be switched off while the competition/concert are in progress.
No flash photography during the performance. Recording of performances must be within the designated zone. All electronic equipment must be in silent mode. No live broadcasting is allowed. No flash photography is allowed at any time.
Jury’s feedback must be collected after one hour of finishing the competition. Uncollected feedback will not be forwarded to participants after the event.
Winners must check their trophies for any signs of damage upon collection. The competition committee will not be held liable for damages found after the competition.
If participants are unable to attend the prize giving ceremony in person, they must notify us of a designated replacement. Prize money, trophies, and certificates must be collected within three days of the competition from the Committee, and will not be sent by post.
Participants must forfeit all recording, broadcasting and distribution rights of any kind of their performances, together with all artists’ resale rights, for an unlimited period. By completing the official entry form, candidates agree to release all rights regarding the future use of recordings of their performance(s).
The organizing committee reserves the right to change the rules and conditions of entry and performance without notice at the Committee’s discretion.
In the unlikely event that the competition cannot take place on the designated date then an alternative date and venue will be arranged.
