Hello! Welcome to my personal website. I am an associate professor at the Management Department in the Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University. Previously, I worked at the School of Labor and Employment Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I earned my Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California at Berkeley in 2008.
As a sociologist who studies social, psychological, and institutional dynamics in and around business organizations, I do academic research about executive compensation, executive succession, board of directors, and corporate governance. I have published in Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Corporate Governance: An International Review, Social Forces, and other scholarly journals. Currently, I serve on the editorial review boards of Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Management, Organization Science and Corporate Governance: An International Review.
