Congrats go out to:

  • Megan Poole, for receiving the Outstanding TA Award
  • Auritro Majumder who has been named a 2011-12 Goekjian Scholar by SU's Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs
  • Mike Dwyer (now an Assistant Professor at Arcadia University) for receiving the A&S 2010-11 Doctoral Dissertation Prize for the best dissertation in the humanities
  • Jon Singleton will be an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in English at Harding University beginning next year

Welcome to the new semester! Here are some of the events this week:

Monday, August 23rd
  • English Department Orientation

Tuesday, August 24th
  • English Department TA Orientation 9am - 5 pm (in HL 421)
    • 9-9:30: Meet with DGS
    • 9:30-11: Meet with fall lecture professors
    • 11:10-11:45: Teaching station demo
    • 11:50-12:50: Lunch with veteran grads
    • 12:50-1:50: Session on effective teaching strategies
    • 2-3:50: Session on grading papers and teaching students how to write them
    • 4-5: Session on library teaching resources
Saturday, August 28th
  • Department Picnic 4pm - ? (email Sarah Barkin with questions)
