Dear Senior Residents,

As you know, your scholarly project experience will culminate in the presentation of an abstract, poster and oral presentation during the Spring Scholarly Project Poster Symposium.  This year, the symposium is scheduled for Thursday, June 7th from 4:30-6:30pm in the MIND Auditorium.  The event will include food and wine, a featured speaker and an awards presentation by Interim Department Chair Dr. Kevin Coulter

Symposium Agenda:
 4:30pm  Residents arrive at MIND Institute to set-up poster.
 5:00-6:00pm Seniors conduct oral presentations in front of his/her poster. You will do this several times throughout the hour. Faculty judges circulate during this interval.
 6:00pm Featured speaker & awards presented.
 6:30pm Event concludes.

Abstract: All residents must submit an abstract. Please see the abstract section of this website for more instructions. You are required to submit your abstract on the form provided. Abstracts submitted outside of this form will not be accepted.
  • Friday, May 4, 2018: Abstract draft due to Chief Residents.
  • Friday, May 11, 2018: Abstract feedback session w/ Dr. Satake & Dr. Underwood
  • Friday, May 25, 2018: Final abstracts on abstract worksheet must be emailed to Christine Brecht.

Posters should be created on a PowerPoint slide and sized to exactly 36"x48". We encourage you to use one of the poster templates shared on this website. Residency staff will not resize posters. Poster files must be emailed to Maura Reilly by Friday, May 25, 2018. If you meet this deadline the department will arrange for your poster to be printed and cover all associated costs.  If you do not meet this deadline, you are responsible for printing your own poster (approximately $100 at FedEx Office).

Oral Presentation: You are expected to prepare a short (3-5 minute) oral presentation. See the oral presentation section of this website for more information.

Awards: Awards will be given for the following four categories: best abstract, best poster, best oral presentation and best fellow project. You can view the judging criteria here.
