How the Association is Run

The Association is run entirely by volunteers. There is no paid staff, so every penny donated goes directly towards the provision of this important community service. The work of the Association is co-ordinated and managed by an elected general committee that meets monthly. Many of the committee are themselves visually impaired and are thus able to play an important role in the direction and development of the Association's work. The kind financial support shown from many donors over the years is gratefully acknowledged and particularly from the Council of the Cardiff Institute for the Blind who have provided the vital accommodation. Also, special thanks go to the Royal Mail who collect, deliver and return the thousands of cassettes distributed each month free of charge.

The Association has no permanent sources of funding and relies heavily on individual donations to maintain and develop the service. Over the years, support has come from local authorities, charitable trusts, various community and church groups as well as from individuals.
In addition to financial support you may be able to help in another way. Although the Association has close links with the Social Services Departments and Blind Welfare Organizations, there are still many people we could serve. If you know of someone who is visually impaired and who would like our service, then please let us know.
Financial assistance from those interested in helping is always welcomed and can be made to the Honorary Treasurer at our studio address.
