SWOKE is pleased to offer the following workshops for the ongoing professional development of its members, our colleagues, and university students. We also offer Clock Hours for Washington teachers through partnership with WMEA, in addition to PDUs for Oregon teachers.

Description: As music educators, we have the unique opportunity to provide rich musical experiences for all children in our school settings. Zoltán Kodály believed this occurred through nurturing a well-trained heart, hand, mind and ear. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore quality repertoire for grades K-5, and subsequent pedagogical strategies that foster musicianship, collaboration, and creativity skills in young children. In addition, the integration of standards-based instruction for the 21st-Century music classroom will be addressed.

SWOKE Board partnering with ORS- Choral Reading Session

Location: Lagunitas Community Room, 237 NE Broadway #300, Portland, OR, 97232

HAPPY HOUR CHOIR

Have your music and drink it, too!


Please join us at our SWOKE/ORS collaborative social spring event. Attendees will be provided a choral reading session packet including pieces for upper elementary and beginning middle school choirs, as well as a packet of joyful, rowdy pieces for us to sing together for the pure fun of it, with plenty of opportunity to mix, mingle, and get to know members of both organizations better. Come ready to sing, come ready to socialize!

This is an event for members who are 21 years of age or older
