Head Coach Dave Segraves
Coach Segraves has been coaching swimming for over forty years. As the head coach of the Royal Oak Penguins, his teams won five state championships, had one Olympic Trials qualifier and world ranked swimmer. In 1981, Coach Segraves took over the Livonia Spartan Aquatic Club. The Spartans won five state titles under Coach Segraves. In 1996, Coach Segraves and his 4 Olympic Trials qualifiers were the subject of an Emmy winning documentary titled “Watermark” that was released just prior to the 1996 Olympics. Coach Segraves took over the Tiger Sharks program in 2010.
Assistant Coach Stephanie Olsen
Coach Stephanie has been
involved in competitive swimming for thirty-six years. She swam AAU for 12
years and has coached for numerous teams including East Grand Rapids Waves and
high school teams. She also has taught at all levels of instruction through the
American Red Cross Learn to Swim program. She is a preschool teacher by day and
enjoys mentoring and nurturing children of all ages in school and at the
pool. She has a true passion for the
sport and believes that swimming is unique opportunity for children to grow
confident and strong not only physically but mentally. It is her mission to
guide the whole person through their experiences in each individual’s life.
Coach Stephanie also has a daughter (Gracie) who swims for Tiger Sharks in the
Coach Brittany was a competitive swimmer in both Middle School and High School. She was hired as a coach by SLP&R in the fall of 2008. Shortly after being hired as a coach, she also took a job as a supervisor and as a swim instructor for SLP&R. In addition to coaching, Coach Brittany is a student at U of M Flint. In the fall of 2011, Coach Brittany took a break from coaching so she could focus on her studies. This fall, we welcome back Coach Brittany to the team.
