SWE has been busy trying to raise funds, organize a CLCC visit, attending a regional conference, and working at a few other endeavors, which is why we have not been able to update our site in a while. Below, I've briefly described two of these.
One of the best things we've done recently was our Girl Scout Badge Workshop. The girls who participated earned their "Making it Matter" badge by learning about engineering through various activities. The stations included plastics engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, and a few others! A huge thanks to Sue Anderson who organized this event; she recently informed me that all of the feedback from the girls was positive. The girls loved this event, which we always strive for.
This year's regional conference was at RPI in Troy, NY. This was RWU's first year attending, so we sent the four officers to see how valuable it was. Overall, we learned a lot, and we will probably work to send girls again next year. We attended the following sessions:
Hopefully we'll have another update soon!
