  • 2 cups (480 ml) liquid (Water, regular milk, unsweetened almond milk, unsweetened coconut milk)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup (80 g) old fashioned oats
  • Sweetener to taste (White sugar, brown sugar, honey, agave, Splenda, Truvia)
  • ¼-½ tsp ground cinnamon (Optional)
  • Fruit (Optional)
  • Nuts (Optional)
  • Dried cranberries (Optional)


1. Pour liquid into a medium pot and bring it to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and the old fashioned oats and cook for about 5 minutes over medium heat. The longer you cook it, the thicker it will be.

2. Stir in sweetener and ground cinnamon.

3. You can serve it immediately either alone or with fruit like bananas, strawberries, blueberries and nuts like walnuts, almonds, pecans, as well as dried cranberries or cherries.
