White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Drop Scones

2 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup plus 2 T sugar, divided
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
6 T unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped macadamia nuts
2/3 cup buttermilk
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Line baking sheets with parchment paper

In large bowl, combine flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.  Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbles. 

Add white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts; mix well.

In separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract.

Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture, stirring until dough is just combined.

Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking sheets; sprinkle with remaining sugar.

Bake for 14-16 minutes, or until lightly browned.
