Grandma Thueson's Donuts

Recipe From Grandma Thueson adapted by Mom
*There is no exact amount for flour. Just add until the dough comes together, but it should be sticky not smooth and elastic like bread dough**

2 TBL yeast disolved in 1/2 cup very warm water.
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup sweet cream (scalded)--you can use can milk instead, but they are not as light as with cream.
1 egg
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
Mix together and add about one cup flour.
Let sit till it forms a light sponge (kind of bubbely and spongey looking) just a few minutes
Add enough flour to stiffen but not as stiff as bread.
Let raise until double.  Roll and cut.  Let raise again.  Fry in hot oil until golden.
