PoWeR Career Fair

PoWeR Career Fair: Strengthening Today's Youth for Tomorrow's Future
PWR stands for Post-Secondary Workforce Readiness and the focus of this event is to help students explore careers, learn about themselves, be purposeful about their high school planning and be PoWeRful in their life after high school.  For the first time ever high school students from eight districts will attend this event: Durango (including Animas and Big Picture), Bayfield, Pagosa Springs, Ignacio, Mancos, Cortez, Dolores, and Dove Creek.

The PoWeR Career Fair has been rescheduled for March 7th, 2016 at Fort Lewis College from 8:15 - 1:20.

Students will attend panel-style sessions in classrooms as well as a 'traditional' booth-style career fair in the SLC gymnasium.  The booth-style fair will also include college representatives.

Professionals: This year there are two different ways to participate, please select from the menu at the left to sign-up as a volunteer presenter.
  • Panel-style presenter (in classrooms) = presenting about your career and field to several groups of students as one of two or three panel members in a similar career cluster.  Members of the panel would have 7-10 minutes to present during each 40 minute session (4 sessions total).
  • The PoWeR Zone table/booth presenter = you or your business would have a table/booth in a gymnasium and meet individually with students to discuss your career and/or your business.  This is a setting to promote your business and experiential opportunities for students.
We also need moderators for classroom panel sessions. A classroom moderator will introduce panelists, keep time and monitor students in the classroom.

Students: Student registration is available for those who did not sign up previously and will CLOSE Monday, February 8th at 4pm.
