Social Welfare Association of Neo Socialites (S.W.A.N.S) Bhopal
We just approached the founder Mr. Pradeep Ghosh, and after a simple conversation and hearing our Plan of action, we got the internship.
Duration of internship and timings
1 month, 3 pm – 6 pm, 6 days a week.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
Through SWANS, I volunteered with THE MUSEUM SCHOOL, an educational project for slum children, run by OASIS, a non-profit organization in Bhopal.
First day was about meeting the kids and getting comfortable with them, it was life changing getting to know the counterparts of the society and understanding that life has far more than using smartphones or chilling with friends.
Training the underprivileged children of The Museum School on Child Rights, and also training them on performing street plays, on the same.
The street plays were also performed by the children and law interns, during week ends in the slums, where the children belong. These had great effect on their communities. He also helped the children.
Work environment and people
Work environment is beautiful, where volunteers from all across the city spare time and help these children. Every individual was a living source of inspiration by themselves.
We did street plays in various slums of Bhopal which actually had a great impact on the society they belong to.
Best part was to get 19 selections for a reality show called India’s best dramebaaz on Zee tv, where they got through performing the excerpts from the street-play.
Nothing about this internship was bad. All of them gave me memories which I’ll cherish for lifetime.
Biggest lesson learnt was our talents are a sheer waste if we cannot use them for others.
Even if we can effect one person, that means great accomplishment and the blessing and happiness that these children get from learning is something we can never learn in any educational institute.
Any Other Thing
Highly recommended internship, if you want a life changing experience.
