Having finished my BA and MA degree in TEFL, I have gained a general knowledge on linguistic related subjects. At the moment, I am a postgraduate researcher in Applied Linguistics at Swansea University. In my spare time, I am a part-time exam invigilator, student tutor and Chinese teacher.
- International (Chinese) students' academic success studies
- L1 and L2 studies
- Vocabulary learning and teaching
- Language testing
- Chinese Linguistics
Previous studies have attempted to use standardised test such as IELTS and TOEFL to predict students' academic success, however, the results are inclusive. Thus, novel methods are in demand.
In my first study, a gap-filling test (C-test) together with a writing task are used to predict 70 international students who newly arrived to Swansea for higher education study. Details can be found in the attachment. (Details are available in the attachment)

In my second study, apart from English language ability, other factors are also considered in affecting students' academic success. Among many important factors, I particularly focus on Intelligence, Multicultural Personality and Chinese students L1 vocabulary size. Details can also be found in the attachment.
