Crescent Beach Resort and, Village West for lodging, they are both close to the event. The Inn is farther away from the event, but closer to the action, also nice, and budget friendly. Then camping on site at Emerson State Park is a great option if you have a tent or camper. It's also a family friendly site with restrooms, and a playground http://iowastateparks.reserveamerica.co ... kId=610152. They allow booking ninety days out from the date of the event, it's Iowa's busiest campground so I recommend booking early.
Eating is variable because there are so many options; Maxwell's is fancy, and very nice. The Barefoot Bar is a constant party. The Gardens is more of a sports bar, but it's fun, and the food is good. The Ritz has the best pizza in town, and fantastic burgers. The Taco House is a great experience, and they have fantastic Mexican food. There is a Chinese restaurant, I think it's called 1and1, it's great but just opened this last year. Breakfast recommendations, The Family Diner in Spirit Lake or The Bird House in Milford. Those are my favorite haunts but I encourage you to explore, the lakes area is always changing, and a lot of fun. Check out http://www.okoboji.com/ for up to date info. The lake area slows down after labor day so we will have the place to ourselves, and as the event grows, so will the party. Looking forward to seeing you out there, just submitted for sanction, registration will open shortly.
