Hello fellow ski club members:
We hope you all had a wonderful summer. As we enter the 2014 fall season we’re looking back on a most unusual summer here in the Wood River Valley. We had a few nights of freezing temperatures in June, a hotter than normal July and then, as the Sun Valley Summer Symphony opened, we got hammered with winds and rain. One storm in late August dumped many inches of rain and hail. It was the storm we all wished for in January & February. Dollar mountain and the Elkhorn Golf Course were white. Now we feel fall in the air as the sunshine returned to our valley just in time to warm up for the yet another wonderful Wagon Days celebration.
The main purpose of this note is to announce the relocation of our ski club office. Due to the major remodel underway in the Sun Valley Lodge, all resort personnel had to be moved from that building to alternate locations. As a result, we were asked by resort management to give up our office space in the Aspen Willow building. Fortunately, Tim Silva was able to secure a new office space for us in the Moritz building (formerly the Moritz Hospital). We are very grateful to Tim for finding a way to keep the Sun Valley Ski Club on the resort property. We are also pleased that we were able to help the resort with their office space challenge.
We want to publicly thank these great volunteers who showed up with strong bodies and three pickup trucks to move us to the office. Thank you Loretta Cayton, Tom Shanklin, Steve Slivinski, John Wellsandt and Perry Solberg (Perry & his wife Marli are future SVSC members). Our new office, Room 41, Moritz Building, is now set up and we are back in business. The new office space is a bit tighter so we’ve stored some furniture and other items in the club's existing unit at Northwood Storage.
We will arrange an ‘open house’ some time during our 2015 Winer Celebration Week in January. Meanwhile, have a wonderful fall season and we look forward to seeing you in December as we kickoff the 79th winter ski season in Sun Valley.
