Welcome to St. Thomas the Apostle conference of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Society(SVdP). We are a catholic volunteer organization that extends a hand up to friends in need.
Services Provided:
Direct Aid
No act of charity is foreign to the society. We provide financial aid to help clients with rent/mortgage, electricity, gas, internet, cell phone, etc.
Clients must demonstrate need. Assistance is provided regardless of factors such as religious affiliation, race, etc. We do provide assistance only within a certain geographical area. Calls for assistance from those outside our service area will be referred to the appropriate sister conference that serves the area that the client lives in.
Assistance can be requested by calling (770) 268 0996
House of Dreams
The House of Dreams (HOD) is a temporary housing program serving homeless women in Cobb County. This has been in continuous operation since 2001.
The primary goal of the House of Dreams is to provide homeless, single women in Cobb County with the opportunity and support they need to change their lives and become self-reliant. We believe that by aggressively addressing the factors that cause homelessness, we can change lives “one person at a time” through education, self-awareness, knowledge and independence.
The HOD’s two key objectives are:
Objective # 1: To first provide temporary basic needs (food, shelter, safe environment, etc.) for single, homeless women in Cobb County who demonstrate genuine commitment to changing their lives. Our ability to provide these most basic human needs represents an essential “first step”, which then enables the HOD staff to pursue our second key objective.
Objective # 2: To help women who enter the program to develop the life skills (and ultimately the self-confidence) necessary to re-enter the workforce and become self-reliant in a sustainable way.
