My name is Suzanne Kehret.

I've been in education for the last 11 years. I was a secondary science teacher for 10 years and I've had the pleasure of being an Instructional Technology Specialist for the last year. Education and teaching are my passions. I love exploring what is possible in the classroom using the intersection of content, pedagogy, and technology.

"Show Us Your Mussels" Minnesota Zoo- Minneapolis, MN

I was chosen as part of a team of 6 educators to design curriculum for the Minnesota Zoo's pilot "Show Us Your Mussels" campaign.

The campaign has High School students create an original digital media campaign informing the public about the impact of water quality on native mussels. The school groups that get the message out to the most people will receive FREE field trips to the Minnesota Zoo including buses, admission, parking and interactive sessions about our Mussel Conservation program.

As part of the curriculum design committee, I designed lesson plans for educator use and aligned parts of the challenge to both MN state standards as well as Advanced Placement Environmental Science Standards.

Ecology Project International Magdelena Bay, Mexico

In March 2017 I was fortunate enough to travel to Baja Del Sur with 15 other educators from across the US for a chance to witness the culmination of the 5,000-mile gray whale migration, learn how local communities are working to protect their marine resources.

During the trip, we took part in a research project recognized around the world as a model for community-based sea turtle conservation. A local fisher-conservationists will guided us through the sea turtle monitoring protocol they use to gather data. Using drift nets, you recorded measurements and other data before releasing the turtles back into the wild.
