By day I'm a software developer working with Oracle Forms and Reports.
At night and on weekends, I let out my creative side with my involvement in The Society for Creative Anachronisms (http://www.sca.org/).
“The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our "Known World" consists of 19 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more.”
Since I live in Omaha, Nebraska, the regional SCA group I play with is called “The Kingdom of Calontir”. This regional group represents a 4-state area - Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and a tiny bit of Arkansas. It's web site can be found at:
My local SCA group is called “The Barony of the Lonely Tower” and its web site can be found at:
In the SCA, I have 4 main interests - all of which are set in the Italian Renaissance - feasting (and the associated ambiance), clothing, portraiture (drawing), and calligraphy and illumination (the replication of “period” manuscript pages).
I've set up this web site so that I could share my research on these 4 areas with you.
