REDMOND ENVIRONMENTAL RECAP - 2016
Five years ago, the Redmond community met to explore what a Livable Redmond would look like. Some of those aspirations were captured in broad City plans based on that community conversation on sustainability. As we celebrate Earth Day, we invite you join us and review where we have been, how we measure progress and where we might be going environmentally.
Interest Groups:There are 6 interest groups within Sustainable Redmond focused on key topic areas of sustainability. See the links on the left for the topic areas and click for more information, and for the contact person if you would like to join the group.
Steering Committee Meetings: Steering committee meetings are typically on the 4th Monday of the month. Contact us for location.
Other Local Efforts: The Redmond Wild group is working to certify Redmond as a National Wildlife Federation Habitat Friendly Community. Also check out the City of Redmond's website focused on sustainability, http://www.impactredmond.com/. And lastly, Green Redmond is a great local volunteer program to help maintain the forests within the city's park and trail lands
Sustainability can have many different meanings, and Sustainable Redmond defines it as:
“The practice of using Earth’s natural resources at a rate slower than what can be regenerated, resulting in no net loss of resources.”
