Weekly Brain Teaser-Answer due on Friday

Three Brothers on a Farm

Three brothers live in a farm. They agreed to buy new seeds: Adam and Ben would go and Charlie stayed to protect fields. Ben bought 75 sacks of wheat in the market whereas Adam bought 45 sacks. At home, they split the sacks equally. Charlie had paid 1400 dollars for the wheat. How much dollars did Ben and Adam get of the sum, considering equal split of the sacks?

7th /8th Grade

7th Grade Algebra 1 is year 1 of the two year Algebra 1 program.  8th grade is year two.

In 7th grade, we cover the first half of the textbook.  In 8th grade, we cover the 2nd half.

Its important to work hard and try their hardest because so many math concepts rely on their understanding of Algebra 1.

Please see syllabus below for guidelines to help have a successful year.

  Mathcounts

Later this quarter we will begin our Mathounts activities.  This is a program that students apply their algebra knowledge by competing against other students in problem solving type problems.   We will be working on these problems within our regular curriculum throughout the first semester.

For our school competition, students in my 7th and 8th grade classes compete against each other.  The top 8 students overall will be eligible to compete in the chapter competition in Rockford sometime early February.  As soon as I know the exact date, I will let the students know.
