1) Why am I seeing all 'Junk' Characters on these pages?

Ans: The characters are Telugu characters in Unicode. Windows started supporting Unicode from Windows2000. An Operating system of XP or above is recommended for better display of Telugu Unicode. Windows 98 and 95 will display Unicode on installing MSLU (Microsoft Layer for Unicode), but the result is not great!

2) My Operating system is XP (or above), but I still can't see Telugu characters. I see only squares.

Ans: XP by default comes with Arial Unicode MS fonts which is 1.38 MB in size, that has Unicode fonts of all languages. If this fonts file is deleted to save space and you don't have atleast one Telugu Unicode font like Gautami, you will see small blank squares.

3) I have XP and I can see the Telugu characters in this site very well, but when I open my Yahoo Mail, I find my Telugu mails in Junk characters?

Ans: Yahoo Mail always opens the page in Western European Encoding. When you see junk characters, Go To Toolbar of Internet Explorer->View->Encoding, then select Utf-8. You will then be able to see Telugu characters properly.

4) I got a Telugu mail, but I can't see it properly even after changing my Encoding to Utf-8?

Ans: When a Unicode Telugu mail is sent from Gmail, in the Settings of Gmail, 'Send Outgoing mails as Utf-8' should be selected. The default is 'Send outgoing mails as text'. This has to be changed. If a Telugu mail is sent without changing the setting to Utf-8, the receiver will not be able to view the mail even after changing his/her Encoding.

While sending Telugu mail from Yahoo Mail, ensure that the Encoding is Utf-8 in IE->View->Encoding

5) While trying to chat, I get a message that I am not connected to Messenger. I am signed into Messenger or I am signed in GoogleTalkBeta. Why do I still get the message?

Ans: Just Signing into Yahoo Messenger(YM) or GoogleTalkBeta(GTB) will not send the Chat message from ManaTelugu IM. You need to open a chat window with one of your contacts. Sometimes you may be in YM option and trying to chat to GTB contact or the other way. Check the option in ManaTelugu IM.

6) The chat message I sent has gone to another contact of mine who has just contacted me.

Ans: ManaTelugu IM is programmed to chat with one contact at a time. If another contact comes in between, your chat message can go to anyone of the contacts connected.

7) Some chat messages doesn't seem to be getting delivered?

Ans: It is your internet or network connection problem.

8) I am not able to know whether my contact is Typing. It used to show on my Chat window.

Ans: If your contact is also using ManaTelugu IM, then you will not know since your contact is not typing the message in Chat Window. Similarly your contact too will not be able to see you typing.

9) My contact is not able to see my Telugu characters. Does my contact also need to have ManaTelugu IM to see my Telugu messages?

Ans: Your contact needs to have Operating system of XP and above.  Your contact doesn't need to have ManaTelugu IM to see your Telugu messages.

10) I want to resend a chat message. Do I need to type all the message in English in ManaTelugu IM? If I copy my telugu message from chat window and paste in MT IM, I see all question marks.

Ans: You can copy your telugu message from chat window, paste it in Messenger Window itself and send it from there.

11) Sometimes my ManaTelugu IM takes time to open. Why?

Ans: Sometimes the webbrowser in ManaTelugu may take a little more time than normal to initialize. It is not any problem.

12) How do I save my Telugu Text prepared in ManaTelugu Editor?

Ans: Click the 'Copy the Telugu Script to Clipboard', Open Notepad, paste(Ctrl +V) in it, and save the .txt file in Unicode and not in default ANSI.

13) How do I edit my saved Telugu Text?

Ans: After you paste Telugu Script in Notepad, 'Copy English Script to Clipboard' too in ManaTelugu Editor and paste it below the Telugu Script in the Notepad seperating them with a line and save the file. Whenever you want to make changes, copy the English Script from Notepad and drop it in ManaTelugu Editor and make the changes you want in the English Script.

14) I want to send the Telugu text to a friend who has Operating system earlier to XP. What can I do?

Ans: Copy the Telugu Script from ManaTelugu Editor, Open Paint application from Programs->Accessories, insert a Textbox on the canvas and paste the Telugu text in it. Save the image in JPG(less quality but smaller file size), or BMP(Best quality but large file size) and send the Telugu Text in Image form to your friend. You may have to change the size of canvas in Paint application to accomodate the size of your telugu text.

15) ManaTelugu Editor doesn't have font size or colour formatting. I want bigger Telugu fonts or Coloured Telugu fonts. What do I do?

Ans: To increase the font size and Bold Text, Notepad will help you. For Colour Text, you can use applications like Paint or Microsoft Front Page.

16) Why can't I use Apostrophe (') in ManaTelugu. How do I write words like can't, don't, Ram's etc or any Quotations or to distinct a word?

Ans: Apostrophe is like a reserved character in ManaTelugu. The text between to Apostrophe's is returned as it is without any conversion. For Quotations and to distinct any word, use Double Quotation marks (Shift + Apostrophe). To write English words like can't, don't etc; use Grave Accent(`) character, which is just above the Tab key on the keyboard.

17) When I try to write big texts, it takes lot of time to convert. Is there any limitation?

Ans: The Chat has a limitation of 500 characters. The Editor doen't have limitation, but this First release is not advisable for bigger texts. Take the help of a Notepad, prepare short texts in Editor multiple times and paste them in Notepad alongwith English Text.

18) Will there be any developments in this application? How about the support?

Ans: I have already improved the present version which is under testing. I am trying for Non-Case sensitive transliteration that will take time as I am doing this all alone. I am sure no support is needed absolutely, if you carefully go through my html file. However I am always available on e-mail for any kind of support.
