Materials: Knit-Cro-Sheen color of your choice, or size 10 crochet thread. Steel crochet hook # 7.

NOTE: These are just basic instructions. You will be working part of this pattern as freeform crochet.

NOTE: You can also work this with dc’s…hdc…and sc --- working ch’s between them, or leaving out the ch's as you wish..

Row 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), 5 tr in 4th ch from hook. (6 tr)
Row 2: Ch 6, turn (counts as 1 tr - ch 2), *1 tr bp (back post) ch 2, continue across from * to last tr…ending with 1 tr and no ch’s.
Row 3: Ch 6, turn, *1 tr fp (front post) ch 2 --- twice, continue across from * to last tr…ending with 1 tr and no ch’s.
Row 4: Ch 6, turn, 1 tr bp ,ch 2 --- twice around same tr (3 tr - 3 ch 2 counting first ch 6) , *1 tr bp, ch 2 around next tr, 1 tr bp, ch 2 around next tr --- 3 times, continue across from * to last tr…ending with 1 tr and no ch’s. NOTE: You can vary the amount you put around each tr on this row to make it different.
Row 5: Ch 6, turn, *1 tr fp, ch 2 around next tr, continue from * to last tr…ending with 1 tr and no ch’s.
Row 6: Ch 6, turn, *1 tr bp, ch 2 around next tr, 1 tr bp, ch 2 ---twice around next tr, continue from * to last tr…ending with 1 tr and no ch’s.
Row 7: Repeat row 6 except make front post sts.
Row 8: Repeat row 5 except make back post sts.
Row 9: Repeat row 5 except make front post sts.
Row 10: Repeat row 5 except make back post sts.
Row 11: NOTE: In this row you will start gathering up some of the stitches so they are closer together. This will be the start of doing freeform crochet…I worked some of the tr’s with ch’s between them and some I did not. Work as such…(front post st‘s)
Work about 3 or 4 tr’s with the ch’s between them and then about 7 tr over the next 7 tr’s without ch’s between them….continue on maybe with 4 or 5 with ch’s between them and then 8 or 9 without ch’s between them.
Row 12: Back post st’s…Continue to work the same and you can also vary the number of ch’s between the tr’s…work some with 2 ch’s and some with 3’s ch’s…Also, work some dc’s instead of tr’s and just put 1 ch between them or 2 ch’s between some and some dc without ch’s between them.
Row 13: Front post st’s. Continue to shape in the same manner.
Row 14: Back post st’s. Repeat.
Row 15: Front post st’s. Repeat.
Row 16: Back post st’s. Repeat.
Row 17: Front post st’s. Repeat.

NOTE: You can break off here…or…continue to make the piece larger. You can also make the sea fan a lot smaller if you wish….these are just basic instructions to get you started.

Materials: Knit-Cro-Sheen green (whatever shade you wish)…or color of your choice, or size 10 crochet thread. Steel crochet hook # 7.

Row 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, work 1 bp dc over the next 2 dc.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn, work 1 fp dc over the next 2 dc.
Keep working this way (alternating the bp then fp dc’s) until you have the length you need.
Last Row: Work 3 dc cluster to make the top point.
