FROG "BUTTON PET"

MATERIALS:

White (001) Knit-Cro-Sheen crochet thread. No. 7 steel crochet hook. {{NOTE: Cluster Stitch (cl st): "loop over hook, put hook through sp and catch thread and pull through sp" (4 times), thread over hook and pull through all the loops on the hook.}}

RND 1: Ch 10, join to form a ring.

RND 2#: Ch 3 (first dc) dc in same ch, 2 dc in each ch around, join with a sl st to the top of the first ch 3. (20 dc)

RND 3: Work this round in the "Back Loops Only". Ch 2, cl st in the same st, draw a tight loop through top to hold in place then ch 2, sl st in the next st, ch 2, cl st in the next st, draw a tight loop through top to hold in place then ch 2, sl st in the same st {{EYES}}. Sc in the next 2 sts, sl st in the next st: Ch 4, 3 hdc in the 4th ch from the hook, sl st back in the beginning st {{FRONT LEG}}. Sc in the next 3 sts, sl st in the next st: Ch 4, 2 dc , ch 2, hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, ch 2, sl st back in the same ch, sl st in the top of dc, ch 2 sl st back in beginning st {{BACK LEG}}. Sc in the next 4 sts, sl st in the next st: Ch 4, hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, ch 2, sl st back in same ch, sl st in 3rd ch, 2 dc in beginning st, ch 4, sl st back in beginning st (this reverses the leg for the other side) {{BACK LEG}}. Sc in the next 3 sts, sl st in the next st: Ch 4, 3 hdc in the 4th ch from the hook, sl st back in the beginning st {{FRONT LEG}}. Sc in the next 2 sts, join with a sl st to the first st.

RND 4: Work in the "Back Loops Only". Sl st behind the eyes, trying to catch at least 2 sts behind the eyes so they won't curl up, Sl st around in each st and working behind legs, join to the first sl st with a sl st and break off the thread. Weave in any loose ends. Slip the center over a button and you now have a "BUTTON PET"!

  

 

 

 

 

TINY TURTLE

 MATERIALS: White (001) size 10 Knit-Cro-Sheen crochet thread. No. 7 steel crochet hook. NOTE: Cluster Stitch (cl st): "loop over hook, put hook through sp and catch thread and pull through sp" (4 times), then thread over hook and pull through all the loops on the hook.

BODY

RND 1: Ch 4, sl st in the 4th ch from hook to form a ring. Ch 1, 10 sc in ring, join to the first sc with a sl st. (10 sc)

RND 2#: Ch 3, 1 dc in the same st, 2 dc in each remaining sc around, join to the top of the ch 3 with a sl st. (20 dc)

RND 3: Work this round in the "Back Loops Only". Ch 5, sl st in the 2nd ch from the hook and in the remaining 3 ch's and sl st back in the beginning st (tail). Sc in each of the next 2 sts, sl st in the next st, ch 4, 2 hdc in the 4th ch from the hook, sl st back in the same st (foot). Sc in each of the next 3 sts, sl st in the next st, ch 4, 2 hdc in the 4th ch from the hook, sl st back in the same st (foot). Sc in each of the next 2 sts, sl st in the next st, ch 3, holding the last loop of each st work 2 dc in the same st, 2 dc in the next st - then thread over hook and draw the thread through all 5 loops on the hook, ch 1, "1 sc in the top of the dc cluster" (nose), ch 3, sl st back in the same st on the body as the last 2 dc's were in (head). 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, sl st in the next st, ch 4, 2 hdc in the 4th ch from the hook, sl st in the same st (foot). Sc in each of the next 3 sts, sl st in the next st, ch 4, 2 hdc in the 4th ch from the hook, sl st in the same st (foot). Sc in each of the next 2 sts.

RND 4: Work in the "Back Loops Only". Sl st under the tail, feet, and head and in each st around, join with a sl st. (20 sl sts)

RND 5: Work in the "Back Loops Only". Ch 1, 1 sc in first sl st, skip 1 sl st around, join with a sl st to the first sc.

RND 6: Sl st in the "Back Loops Only". Sl st in the first sc, skip 1 sc around, join with a sl st to the first st. Break off and weave in the loose ends.

 

 

TOP SHELL MATERIALS: Same as turtle body. 

RND 1: Ch 4, sl st in the 4th ch from the hook to form a ring. Ch 1, 10 sc in

the ring, join to the first sc with a sl st.RND 2: Ch 1, sc in the first sc, *ch 2, sc in the next sc, around from *, join

with a sl st to the first sc. (10 ch-2 spaces, 10 sc)RND 3: Sl st into the ch-2 space. *Ch 1, work a "cluster stitch" in the ch-2

space, around from * to end, join with a sl st to the top of the first st. (10

cluster sts) NOTE: DO NOT BREAK OFF THE THREAD. Attach to the body

with a sc (through both loops on the shell and through only the top loop of

round 3 of the body part. Work 1 sc around in each st to attach both pieces

together. NOTE: You can also make a "BUTTON PET" by starting the body

piece like this: RND 1: Ch 10, join to form a ring. RND 2: ch 3, 1 dc in first

ch, *2 dc in each ch around from * to end, join with a sl st to the top of ch

3. Work the same from this point except do not work the last 2 rnds of the

underside of the body - this leaves the opening so you can slip your pet over

the button on your shirt.

 

 NOTE: You can also make a different "top shell" by working the first 2 rounds

of the body and then putting the body and top shell together by sc through

the back loops of the top shell and the top loops of the body part.
