Copyright Susan M. Whitlock
Size: Fits 11 ½ inch fashion doll.
Materials: Knit-Cro-Sheen in assorted colors (I used blue, pink and white) 1 ball of each. Steel crochet hook # 7. Needle to weave in the loose ends. Button or snap for the skirt fastener.
BASIC GRANNY SQUARE:
Rnd 1: Ch 4, join with a sl st to first ch to form a ring; ch 3 (first dc) 2 dc in ring (3 dc counting ch 3), *ch 3 (corner space), 3 dc in ring, repeat from * 2 more times, end with ch 3, sl st to top of first ch 3. Break off. [4 ch-3 spaces; 4 3 dc-groups]
Rnd 2: Join next color in any ch-3 space; ch 3 (first dc), 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in first corner sp; *ch 1, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc (corner)], repeat from * around; end with ch 1, sl st to top of first ch 3. Break off.
Rnd 3: Join next color in any ch-3 sp; ch 3 (first dc), 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in first corner; *ch 1, 3 dc in ch 1 sp; ch 1, [3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc (corner)]; repeat from * around; end with ch 1, sl st to top of first ch 3. Break off.
JOINING THE SQUARES
To join the squares you can whip stitch them together or you can use single crochet to put them together.
You can also use the third rnd of the square to put them together as I did. You will need one square that has been completed by the instructions. Then on the others you can use the third rnd to join them as you work the rnd. I join them together using a ch 1; 1 sc between open sp on opposite square (to join the two tog); then ch 1 as I am working the new square.
Join 6 squares into a circle (BOTTOM OF SKIRT).
Rnd 1: Join whatever color you wish to any open sp on the squares (that you just joined into a circle), ch 3, (first dc), 2 dc in same sp; *ch 1, 3 dc in next sp, repeat from * around, end with ch 1, sl st to top of first ch 3.
Rnd 2: Sl st to open sp; *ch 1, 3 dc in open sp, repeat from * around, end ch 1, sl st to top of ch 3.
Rnds 3-4: Repeat rnd 2.
Rnd 5: Join next color and repeat rnd 1.
Rnds 6-8: Repeat rnd 2.
From here you will work in rows…turning your work each time you get to the end of the row. This makes an opening so the skirt can be put onto the doll.
Row 9: (waist) Ch 3, (first dc), holding back last lp of each dc - dc in each of next 2 dc now yo and draw through all lps on hook [beg dc cl], *[holding back last lp of each dc - dc in each of next 3 dc now yo and draw through all the lps on the hook] dc cl over each 3-dc group, repeat from * around, DO NOT JOIN.
Rows 10-14: (Waist band) Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in each st around. At the end of row 14, make a ch loop that will fit around the button you have picked out to use. Break off.
Sew the button to the other side of the waist.
Join 4 squares together to form a circle.
Rnd 1: Work the same as for rnd 1 on the skirt.
Rnd 2: Work the same as for rnd 2 on the skirt.
Rnd 3: (Back loop): Sl st in next dc, ch 8, sl st in same st. Break off.
Rnd 4: (Front ties): Ch 41, work 1 dc in center front dc, ch 41. Break off. Tie an overhand knot in the end of each tie.
Using two granny squares; add two or three more rnds around. Sew the top corners together, leaving about 1 inch to 1 ½ inch opening for the armholes --- sew the sides together. You could also leave the corners at the top open and put tiny buttons on one square at the top corners and ch lps on the other square at the corners for fasteners.
Join 6 squares together to form a long evening wrap.
Make two granny squares.
STRIP FOR GUSSET AND STRAP OF PURSE:
Rnd 1: Ch 5, sc in second ch from hook and next 3 chs. [4 sc]
Rnds: 2-70: (or until piece measures 8 ½ inches long) Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc. Do not break off.
Ch 1, put both ends of strip together and sc them together. Break off.
Weave in all loose ends. Place the seam at the bottom of the purse. Sew one granny square to each side of the side strip with sc stitches or whip st in place.
SHOES (Make 2)
Rnd 1: With white, ch 8, sc in second ch from hook and each of next 5 chs, 3 sc in last ch, working up the other side of ch - sc in each of next 5 chs, 2 sc in the last ch, join with a sl st to first sc. (16 sc)
Rnds 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each sc, join. Break off at end of rnd 3.
Rnd 4: Join different color in same sc where you broke off white; ch 1, sc in each of next 5 sc, (sc next 2 sc together -- sc dec) twice, sc in the remaining sc’s, join. Break off and weave in all the loose ends.
