Dr. Giridara-Kumar Surabhi, holds ‘Senior Scientist’ position at Regional Plant Resource Centre -RPRC [ An autonomous organization under the Forest, Environment & Climat Change Department, Govt. of Odisha], Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. His current research work focuses on (i). Micro-propagation of endemic and endangered forest tree species, (ii).Molecular characterization of horticultural crops and forest tree species, (iii).‘OMICS’- approaches to enhance fruit shelf-life in banana and (iv). Plant /crop stress biology aspects. He obtained the Doctoral Degree from Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur, India. From 2002 to 2010, he worked as Research Scientist and Post-Doctoral Fellow at different reputed institutions in abroad, such as Leibniz-Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK), Germany; Mississippi State University, Kansas State University and Colorado State University, USA; where his research work focused on Plant Proteomics, Genome-wide Gene Expression studies by Microarrays, Impact of multiple abiotic stress factors on different crops and grasses (C3-C4), pre-mRNA Splicing and Synthetic Biology aspects. Thereafter, from 2011 to 2012, he worked as an Associate Professor - Plant Biotechnology at Agri Biotech Foundation (formerly A.P. Netherlands Biotechnology Programme), Hyderabad.

Dr. Surabhi has published his research findings in esteemed international journals with high impact factor [The Plant Journal; Journal of Proteome Research; Plant, Cell & Environment; Journal of Experimental Botany; Plant Science; Plant Cell, Tissue & Organ Culture; Environmental and Experimental Botany; Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology; Chemosphere etc.] and presented at highly prestigious international conferences. He has constantly received many national and international awards and prestigious fellowships, such as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Senior Research Fellowship (SRF), HRD, Govt. of India; Department of Science and Technology (DST, Govt. of India)/ German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, Germany)-Project-based Personnel Exchange Programme (PPP); DAAD/Leibniz Scholarship, Germany; GABI-Fellowship, Germany; INRA-Fellowship, France and travel grant from Ecological Genomics Institute (EGI) etc. Dr. Surabhi is an Elected Fellow of A.P.
