Classes Cancelled on Thursday, February 13, & Friday, February 14

Updated at 2:35 p.m. on February 12, 2014

With the weather forecast again calling for accumulating snow and/or ice, all morning, afternoon, and evening classes at SUNY College at Old Westbury will be cancelled tomorrow, Thursday, February 13, 2014 and Friday, February 14, 2014.

Due to the frequent cancellations required during the early portion of this semester, the Office of Academic Affairs is conducting a review of whether, and if so how many, make up sessions are required to ensure the appropriate number of class contact hours is met for the semester.  An announcement regarding those deliberations will be made at a later date.

It is understandable that weather or other emergency conditions may make it difficult for employees to get to and from work. It is New York State policy, however, that State offices or facilities may only be closed by order of the Governor.

Until such an announcement from the Governor, offices are considered open for business.  Employees must charge appropriate leave credits if they choose not report to work.

Even so, those who are considering travelling to campus to conduct business with the College are advised to call the office they intend to visit before departing, as some offices may be minimally staffed at best.

It should be noted that even when closures do occur, employees performing essential services are expected to report.
