In sacred temples within we are ageless beings
who gain wisdom through cycles, seasons and ceremony
-- Maria Gharakhanian
The Stars, Suns and Moons Within You
We are going to the moon, that is not very far.
Man has so much farther to go within himself.
-- Anais Nin
Within this earthen vessel are
bowers and groves, and within
it is the Creator:
Within this vessel are the seven oceans
and the unnumbered stars.
The touchstone and the jewel-appraiser
And within this vessel the Eternal
soundeth, and the spring wells up.
Kabir says: "Listen to me my friend!
My Beloved Lord is within."
-- Sant Kabir, "Songs of Kabir," Samuel Weiser Books
To explore the far reaches of the inner realms one must understand
one's true nature. Perhaps it is not entirely the fault of modern man
that he does not understand his own inner universe. He has achieved
much, and if such concepts escape his own consciousness it is because
he has no flaming falcon of the spirit on his fist to soar beyond the
confining reaches of the intellect. Men have journeyed to the
physical moon, but they know nothing of the regions of the blissful
music within themselves -- regions which lie beyond the moon, beyond
the sun, beyond the most distant stars and galaxies. But there are
those who have wandered among the darting comets and the shimmering
orbs of sounding fire. The soul-explorer is not alone, for there are
those who have traveled the highways of the inner cosmos; far more
than one may at first realize.
-- George Arnsby Jones, "The Pilgrimage of James," Peacehaven Press
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

My wish for you
Is a homecoming in this life.
A coming in out of the cold;
A drying off the icy rain's touch.
In the holy reliquary
Of childhood memory
May you find there the unshakable truth
Of your preciousness.
May you remember the cool and padded graces
Of your wet feet against stone.
In the middle of a long night,
A single burning light
Serving as your peace,
May you fold back the pocket
Holding your slights,
Your jilted times,
Your feelings of betrayal,
And discover small diamonds there,
Created from the crushed coal
Of your hates and rage.
May you taste resurrection
Without the need of dying for it.
