Payment is due at the start of class. Cash or check only (no credit cards). Class cards are non-transferable. For refunds, the drop-in rate will be deducted for any classes used on your card and the balance refunded to you.

Single class (drop-in), $14.

Three-class card, $39. Expires in 4 weeks.

Six-class card, $72. Expires in 8 weeks.

Ten-class card, $110. Expires in 13 weeks.


Belly Dance Bliss-Out

Mondays 6:00 - 6:45 p.m.

All dance, no talk! Join me for 45 minutes of American Tribal Style® belly dance with no verbal instruction. Just follow me and enjoy the bliss of moving to music. We'll proceed from a gentle warmup to fun isolation drills to lovely American Tribal Style® belly dancing to a playlist of gorgous fast and slow songs. Open to all levels, beginner to advanced.

Level 1: Dance Fundamentals

Wednesdays 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Level 1 is a six-week series, one class per week. The series introduces the dance posture, fast and slow steps, zils (finger cymbals), and group formations that are fundamental to American Tribal Style® belly dance. You are welcome to join the class at any point in the series.

Week 1: Posture, Taxeem, Hand Floreo, Gratitude Meditation.

Week 2: Arm Undulations, Egyptian, duet formation for leading and following.

Week 3: Zils (finger cymbals).

Week 4: Body Wave, Arabic Undulation, trio formation for leading and following.

Week 5: Torso Twist, Pivot Bump/Choo Choo with Arms 1 and Arms 2.

Week 6: Circle Step, Shimmy Step, quartet formation for leading and following.

Level 2: Tribal Combinations

Wednesdays, 10:00 - 11:10 a.m.

Level 2 is a twelve-week series covering variations of the fundamental American Tribal Style®steps learned in Level 1. By using fun combinations of steps, Level 2 also builds skill in leading, following, and improvisation. Participation in Level 2 is by Nancy's permission only.

Week 1: Walking Taxeem, Walking Body Wave, Reverse Turn.

Week 2: Turkish Shimmy; with half turns; with quarter turns; Turkish Shimmy with Arms and Turns (TSWAT).

Week 3: Reach and Sit; Chorus formation.

Week 4: Propeller Turn; Corkscrew Turn.

Week 5: Arabic Hip Twist; with half turn.

Week 6: Camel Walk; Baby Camel.

Week 7: Double Bump; Single Bump.

Week 8: Ribcage Rotation; Arc Arms.

Week 9: Up 2 Down 3, with military zil pattern.

Week 10: Arabic Shimmy; Arabic Shimmy with Arms and Turn (ASWAT).

Week 11: Shoulder Shimmy/Hip Drop; Ghawazee Shimmy Combo.

Week 12: Reverse Taxeem; Head Slides.

Level 3: Modern ATS®

Fridays, 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 pm.

Level 3 has no pre-set syllabus, so we often work on what the students want to learn. I teach all the Level 3 movements and formations shown on the FatChanceBellyDance® instructional videos: Tribal Basics, vol. 7 and vol. 9. We also revisit and refine Level 1 and Level 2 technique, develop improv skills, drill new zill patterns for ATS®, learn to perform for multi-sided audiences, and refine our musicality, among other skills. Advancement to Level 3 is by my permission only.

Womenfolk Practice

Fridays, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Tribal Beats Studio, 2009 Porterfield Way #K, Upland, CA.

This is the practice and performance prep class for my student troupe, Womenfolk. You must be a member of the troupe to join the class. For troupe members, regular attendance is required.

Rhythm & Zils


This class is designed to strengthen musicality and zill skills. Students learn to identify beats, phrases, basic Middle Eastern drum rhythms, and zil patterns used in American Tribal Style® belly dance: 3's (Longa), Alternating, Military, Beledi, Moroccan Six and Six Plus.
