Fasting

Qur'an

Bible

O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard against evil (Qur’an 2:183).

The month of Ramadan is that in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance to men and clear proofs of the guidance and the Criterion. So whoever of you is present in the month, he shall fast therein, and whoever is sick or on a journey, (he shall fast) a (like) number of other days. Allah desires ease for you, and He desires not hardship for you, and (He desires) that you should complete the number and that you should exalt the greatness of Allah for having guided you and that you may give thanks (Qur’an 2:185)

Moses: Exodus 34:28 "And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty {nights;} he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments." (KJV)

Jesus: Matthew 4:2-4 "And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.  3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.  4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (KJV)
