I have been a counselor in the SUSD since 2001. I love working with high school students. While there is not enough room to describe all of my responsibilities, the one thing I want Sunnyside families to know is that I am here for the kids. I see each child as having the capability of doing whatever he/she dreams. There is always a way to succeed. The journey starts with a desire and often times leads to asking for help. Counselors are here to help students begin that journey. Please do not hesitate to contact us via phone or email.
I started my journey at Pima Community College. I completed the AGEC program (two years at PCC and two years at the university) and transferred to the University of Arizona. There I completed a double major in psychology and sociology. Then, I attended the University of Phoenix where I completed a masters degree in education with a specialization of school guidance counseling. Now after many years of counseling, I have returned to the University of Arizona where I am currently working on an additional graduate degree in Educational Leadership. This has been a treasured journey.

I grew up in Vista, California, a small town in north county, San Diego. I graduated from The University of California at Santa Cruz in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Latin American Politics. Upon graduation, I traveled and lived in Southern Mexico for a year before returning to San Diego, where I worked as a case manager in a Juvenile Intervention Program. My husband’s job brought us to Tucson in 2006 and I immediately applied to the University of Arizona to continue my education. I received my Master of Education in School Counseling from the University of Arizona in the fall of 2007 and began working at Sunnyside that same year. I love working with our students to help them see the many possibilities that lie ahead and assisting them in developing and reaching their goals. Everything seems to have fallen into place now, as I am very proud to be part of the Sunnyside Familia.Personal Quote:
