The Champs-Elysées is a seventeenth century garden-promenade turned avenue in Paris. The name refers to the Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed in Greek mythology. Nowadays, the Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous shopping streets in the world with its cinemas, cafés, and luxury specialty shops. This avenue is very popular with many of rich and famous Parisians as well as tourists from around the world. French people usually refer the Champs-Élysées as "la plus belle avenue du monde" literally translated into English as "the most beautiful avenue in the world."
