Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine for Pediatric Care

In the footsteps of a 2000 year old tradition, Oriental medicine integrates acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy, Chinese massage in the treatment of children. Oriental medicine is uniquely effective in the treatment of children:

  1. Promotes healthy digestion
  2. Treats skin disorders including eczema and psoriasis
  3. Beneficial in treating ADHD and spectrum disorders
  4. Boosts immunity
  5. Decreases pain from headaches, stomachaches, and sports related injuries
  6. Decreases nausea and the symptoms of colic
  7. Improves sleep
  8. Is a great conjunctive therapy with Western medicine

As per the US National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, “In a 2012 analysis that combined data on individual participants in 29 studies of acupuncture for pain, patients who received acupuncture for back or neck pain, osteoarthritis, or chronic headache had better pain relief than those who did not receive acupuncture”. Based on a study published by Kemper et al (2000) in Pediatrics, the official Scientific Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, “Pediatric patients with chronic, severe pain found acupuncture treatment pleasant and helpful”.

Acupuncture treatments may be paired with Tui Na (a massage technique based on Chinese Medicine), Shonishin (blunt instruments used to tap acupuncture points), Chinese herbal therapy, cupping therapy, acupressure and acupuncture.
