Superb Under 7 Blitz at St Joseph's

On another misty Sunday morning Cluskey Park played host to the U7 footballers of Kilkerley Emmets, Roche Emmets, Naomh Martin and St. Josephs with two teams each. With the assistance of two Joes stalwarts of our minor successes Jack McNamee and Mark Neary as referees all coaches were free to take care of their own teams.

 
 
St. Josephs U7 Blitz Sept 18th

 

On another misty Sunday morning Cluskey Park played host to the U7 footballers of Kilkerley Emmets, Roche Emmets, Naomh Martin and St. Josephs with two teams each. Joes A v Kilkerley A
 

Both teams played their part in a close entertaining game. Kikerley started off with a couple of quick goals with the Joes answering with a superbly taken point by James Connolly. Kilkerly tacked on a couple of points in the second half. Jack Matthews long and accurate kick outs were a feature for the Joes. Best for Joes were Jack Matthews, James Connolly and Enda Dooley.

 

Joes A v Roche
 

A great effort by the Joes against a strong Roche team. Sean Allen tackled tenaciously and Cian Kelly launched Joes attacks with some superb kick outs. Darragh Collier showed well for the ball in  the forwards. Best for the Joes were Jamie Mathews, Cian Kelly and Sean Allen.

 

Joes A v Martins B
 

In the last game Joes also came up against strong opposition. A well taken score from James woods and great work around the pitch by Enda Dooley and Jamie Mathews were the highlights for the Joes in this game. James Connolly stopped a lot of Martins attacks but ultimately the Martins were too strong for a young Joes team. Best for Joes were James Woods and Darragh Collier.

 St Joes B vs St Martins A
 

With Shea McCann and Rory McLoughlin playing well at midfield and supplying ball into the forward line of Kyle Gibney and Oisin McGinn, Joes B had a very good first half with two points coming from Kyle and one from Rory. Goalkeeper Conor Giblin made some very good saves and Byron Carolan and

Julie McLoughlin were tenacious in their tackling in defence. Shea McCann had a very good second half in defence with some good interceptions and clearances. Conor Giblin moved to forwards and scored two very fine points.

Skills on show:  Kyle Gibney and Rory McLoughlin soloing and kick passing, Shea McCann and Byron Carolan - good tackling. Julie McLoughlin for handpassing.

 

St Joes B vs St Martins B
 

Joes came up against a strong Martins side and played out a well contested low scoring game.  Conor Giblin and Kyle Gibney did some very good tackling at midfield.  Shea McCann and Oisin McGinn did well in defence and Byron and Julie showed well for the ball in forwards.  In the second half Conor

Giblin and Julie McLoughlin played well in defence with Rory and Shea worked hard at midfield.  Byron and Kyle tried hard in forwards. Skills on show: Goalkeeping and kickouts - Oisin McGinn. Tacking and kick passing - Conor Giblin.  Catching and handpassing - Shea McCann

 

St Joes B vs Kilkerley B
 

Joes and Kilkerley B played out a very good sporting game of football with both sides showing good skills. Joes scorers were Rory McLoughlin with three points, a point by Conor Giblin and a fine goal by Kyle Gibney. Julie McLoughlin and Kyle Gibney took turns at goals and made some good saves and fine kickouts.  Byron Carolan and Oisin McGinn played well in defence and Conor and Shea played well in the forwards.
