Marys & Joes Top 2A Under 16 League

There are four rounds to go in Division 2A and 2B. St Mary’s and St Josephs have ten points each at the top of 2A. In 2B Clan na Gael have twelve points and Cooley Kickhams have ten. These four sides should hold on for the top four semi final places.

Full Forward Stephen Ferguson top scored for Cooley Kickhams with a 1 - 02, Emmet Rogan got four points, Emmet McGuigan and Niall McGuinnes got their other goals and James Loughran, Conor McGuinness, Peter Thornton and Thomas McGuinness got a point each. At half time it was a draw match Cooley 0-6 to Sean O Mahonys 1-03

Dean Matthews and Craig Doherty combined to create the opportunity for Adam O’Connor to score the winning goal with two minutes left in this exciting game.

Donal O’Leary played very well as stand in goal keeper after Jordan Mackin was injured in the warm up. Steven Carron, Killian Staunton and Ciaran Gallagher at centre half back were excellent in this narrow win for the Joes.

Baile Talun bounced back to win in Glyde’s home pitch on Monday and they have got to joint second place in the division. Before the break for exams they had suffered a heavy defeat but the team re grouped and put the experience to good use and learned from it.

Among the Top scorers in this victory were; Martin McArdle 3 - 02: Shane Farrell 3 - 04: Cormac Walsh 2 - 03: Cuchulainn Gaels had a better 2nd half when they scored 2 – 07 but Baile Talun ran out easy winners.

N Fionnbarra/St Kevins 6 - 13

The combination side of N Fionnbarra/St Kevins took control of this games with early goals from Conor Leninhan, Sean and Cian Callan. By the end of the first half the combination side were in front by 4 - 08 to 2 - 06. The second half saw scores added to by Garry Campbell, Michael McArdle, Ciaran Lynch, Hugh Osborne and Thomas Gregory. Conor Callan had another good night in nets with Danann McMahon and Patrick Malone shoring up the defence.
