5-16 would win most games but Mellifont just fell short by four points in this thriller at Hunterstown. This was end to end action by two very commited teams.

Under 14 Footbal League semi Final
Div 1A
Newtown Blues           8  -   11

Mellifont Rvs               5  -  16

Blues laid down their intentions early on with a goal and a point by Kevin Carr an Ross Nally respectively. Further goals by Ross Nally (2) and N.Seery put distance between them but Mellifont clawed back the Blues lead to leave Blues a single point ahead at break

The second half continued in the same vein and blues scored  3 unanswered points to edge in front again. Gradually Mellifont got on top and edged in front mid way through second half but Blues showed great resolve to get back and hit the front with goals from N. Seery (2) and John McDonnell. A further Goal from R.Nally put Blues 7pts in front before Mellifont scored a goal to leave 4pts between them at the finish. This was a great team performance by the Blues who now meet St.Mary's in the league final. Best for blues were Ross Nally 3 – 4 and Nathan Seery 1 – 1 who scored 6-7 between them, Jamie Kelly 0 - 1,  C. Downey 0-1, Johnny McDonnell 1 - 1, Ronan Levins and Kevin Carr 1 - 1.
