Tracy Hetherington

Educated in Fine Art and and sculptural textiles, Tracy achieved her M.A. and went on to gain experience in arts co-ordination and design. Working with prestigious companies and London Hotels to source and present original works of art for site specific projects lead her to begin selling work through exhibitions for galleries in London and Surrey.
Tracy now teaches and creates work in Suffolk. She is inspired by aspects of the coastline and sea life in the use of textures, colours and structures. This includes hand felted cuffs, scarves, bowls, organic wall hangings and textile artwork incorporating silk threads and organza, embellished with embroidery, beads and buttons. Her work considers the overlap between fine art and craft, with use of paint and thread on stitched canvases. Paintings are created in response to sea life and the changing coastal landscape.
Sculptural jewellery is crafted from merino wool and silk tops using wet and dry felting techniques. Woven copper wire work with beads, gems and buttons is created in the form of a flexible net to take on fluctuating forms. Small scale brightly coloured copper wire sculptures are influenced by lobster pots and fishing nets.
Tracy designs and leads workshops for both adults and children in felt making. Please contact her for any further information regarding booking a session.
