Exercise

I never regret exercising

Why didn't people have to exercise in the past but we do now? Our increasingly convenient lifestyles have made our lives increasingly sedentary. Typical daily tasks that used to be physically demanding, like laundry, washing dishes, etc., are now done automatically by a machine, so now we have to add exercise to our lives.

The old advice was to exercise 30 minutes, 3 times per week. However, the new advice is: "Adults should engage in moderate intensity physical activities for at least 30 minutes on 5 or more days of the week."
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/American College of Sports Medicine

There are three components of exercise: cardiorespiratory training, strength training, and flexibility training. As much as many people seem to think all they need is cardio, the reality is that everyone needs all three, regularly. Cardiorespiratory training, as the name would imply, develops heart, lung and muscular endurance; it also burns a lot of calories. Strength training develops your muscles and increases metabolism. Flexibility training, of course, increases your flexibility.

Exercise contributes to the other aspects of the SWEET Life: It makes you Sleep more deeply. It makes you thirsty and want to drink more Water. It makes you want to Eat more nutritiously, and it relieves stress and makes you feel Tranquil.
