Initial Contact
I understand from personal experience that it can be daunting to seek counselling for the first time and to decide on which approach or which counsellor is right for you.

To help you decide, I would suggest that we have a brief initial conversation on the phone or via email, and that we then arrange to meet for an initial session. This provides an opportunity for you to talk about what brings you to counselling and to ask questions. Also to explore any concerns you may have about therapy and establish whether we both feel that I am the right person to offer you the support you need.

Should we decide to continue, I usually suggest that we work together for six sessions initially and then review our progress every six sessions. It may be that short term work (6-12 sessions) is sufficient to address whatever issues are troubling you, or it may be that longer term, open ended therapy would be more suitable to allow for problems to be addressed at a deeper level.

Frequency/duration
Individual sessions are 50 minutes long and couples sessions are for 60 minutes.

Sessions tend to be weekly, ideally on the same day and at the same time, but I am happy to be flexible about this and to offer appointments on a more or less frequent basis if preferred.

I currently offer appointments Monday to Thursday, the latest appointment being 7.30pm.
