A Prayer for Advent

In this Advent of expectation draw us together in unity,
that our praise and worship might echo in these walls and also through our lives.
In this Advent of expectation
draw us together in mission,
that the hope within might be the song we sing, and the melody of our lives.
In this Advent of expectation draw us together in service,
that the path we follow might lead us from a stable to a glimpse of eternity

First Holy Communion:

Well done to the pupils who received the Sacrament of Forgiveness this morning. Please remember that First Holy Communion pupils will be expected to attend Mass on Sunday 6th December at 9:30am.

School Mass:

Our next school Mass will be whole-school Mass at St. Aidan’s, Benton, on Friday 11th December at 9:30am. Please ensure that children arrive at school, on time, so that we can be ready to leave school at 9:00am to walk to church.

Musical Coffee Morning:

9:30am on Thursday 10th December. All KS2 pupils (and those receiving peripatetic lessons will be participating). Please come along – the last one was so much fun!

 Community Singing:

Justice Prince are a local community fundraising project in Longbenton and have invited our KS2 school choir to serenade their Christmas Fayre at the Oxford Centre at approximately 10:00am on Wednesday 9th December. Final details are to be confirmed by Justice Prince, but should there be any changes to the arrangements, then we will let you know.

Inter-House Sports’ Competition:

Mr Brandon, our specialist sports coach, has organised a football competition on Wednesday 9th December for Years 1, 2 and 3 in the morning, and Years 4, 5 and 6 in the afternoon (we will try to include the Year 3 pupils, who are singing at the Oxford Centre, in the PM session). Pupils will be split into teams and will represent their Pastoral Care Group in a mixed age competition. We ask that all pupils have outdoor PE kit and a waterproof jacket in case of showers - football boots/shin pads/goalie gloves are permitted.

School Council:

Our school council have asked for a ‘healthy tuck shop’, as a way to allow pupils access to a healthy snack. They are going to be trained by the ‘Fruit to Suit’ firm, to run the shop in school. On Monday, they’ll receive taster products and will be choosing the best and most delicious products for the children to buy. There are a huge number of products on offer but the following: fruit crisps, fruit heroes, fruitypots, ‘Humzingers’ (delicious sticks of dried fruit) and yoghurt raisins are known to be favourites! (Please note that all products meet Food Standard regulations guidance for sugar content). We hope to have this up and running by January – watch this space!
