Royal Canadian Air Cadets, #3 Striker Squadron.
On Jan 26th the #3 Striker Sports Team competed at the Silver Wing Competition in Dorchester. Eight teams competed in volleyball, basketball, floor hockey and tug-of-war. #3 Sqn came in FIRST in the Tug-O-War and were tied for 3rd in Volleyball and tied for 3rd Overall.
On March 18th the Air Cadet League of Canada, Ontario, Zone 7 Effective Speaking Competition was held at the Lambeth Legion. #3 Squadron's FCpl R Mather came in 4th place with her topic 'My Greatest Air Cadet Achievement'. Well Done Flight Corporal!
On Apr 21st the #3 Striker Biathlon Team competed at the Lord Elgin Run and Shoot, at Peace Keeper Park, near Avon ON, on the south end of Lake Whittaker Conservation Area. Sgt. V. Vander Velden came in 1st in the senior girls and FCpl. R Mather placed third in the junior girls event.
#3 Striker is proud to announce that two cadets have received Glider flying scholarships from the Air Cadet League of Canada in conjunction with the Department of National Defence. Sgt. M. Dejong and Sgt. R. Dewsnap will be undertaking intensive training this summer while they learn how to navigate, operate and fly solo in their aircrafts. They will be attending the CRGS Glider Pilot Training Course this summer and may graduate with their Glider Pilot License. Also this summer, Sgt. N. Bell will receive the Advanced Aerospace scholarship and Sgt. N. Redfearn-Smith the Oshkosh trip.
