Shackleton Explorers in the snow - just not quite Antarctica!
November 2012: Shackleton made it's first appearance at the Remembrance Parade this year.

October 2012: Congratulations to our two teams who did us proud over the weekend.  Our two training teams came 1st and 7th in the training team competition! A great start for the unit to this annual event.  In particular the team of Callum, Jordan, Ben, Greg and Alex won the training team competition, and their score would have placed them 5th in the main competition. An extremely strong performance and huge effort from them all; very well done.

September 2012: Thanks to the generous grant from the Harpenden Trust we have now been able to purchase tents and stoves to kit out 4 teams for events such as Peak Assault coming up in October.
September 2012: Progress on our newly formed fundraising team: Shackleton Supporters.  They will be emailing parents directly with information soon.
July 2012: Gilwell 24
Nationally organised Explorer weekend of fun: Gilwell 24
Mud, glorious mud - and a lot of fun - and not very much sleep.
May 2012: Peak district Activity Weekend Away
A soggy arrival to Gradbach camp site melted away by morning, and we all enjoyed the beautiful scenery, completing an incident hike designed to challenge the Explorers, an impromptu extra walk up to Ludd's Church, and fun on The Cube - a high ropes course off site.

Gradbach is in proper countryside - we discover on Saturday morning!

The Cube on Sunday morning was a lot of fun - even though everyone was tired.
April 2020 - St George’s Day Tea Tent: A Big THANKYOU to all the volunteers who helped on the day, and the legions of very professional looking cake donations.  We took in £430.85, and received many positive comments about Shackleton Explorers.

March 2012: Chiltern Challenge

Congratulations to the Shackleton/KES Chiltern Challenge teams, looking a bit bedraggled on the final morning! The main day of the challenge and the night hike was mostly dry, giving the teams a great chance to practice their problem solving and navigational skills. When all the points were finally totalled up, Team 6, Shackleton B (Kris, Eleanor, Ailsa, Tom and Mark), scored 433 points and came 20th (out of 31 teams), and Team 7, Shackleton A (Ed, Dan, Jack, Becca and Ellie) scored 398 points and came 23rd.

Why Shackleton?

Our first group of Explorers were tasked to come up with some options, and voted.
