What To Do In The Yucatan

The Great Mayan Reef Runs parallel to the shores of Puerto Morelos and was declared a "Natural Marine Park". The natural reef, dense mangroves, lagoons and a pristine Caribbean beach create a natural serenity you will want to explore. The most spectacular Cenotes in the Mayan Riviera are just a short excursion away. Local theme parks offer jungle adventures, underwater cavern dives, and spectacular snorkeling.  If you enjoy aquatic sports you can take advantage our protected shores and go kayaking, windsurfing, kite surfing, scuba diving or just swim in the clear and calm waters.

The mysterious and enchanting ancient Mayan Ruins of Coba and Chichen Itza are but a short car or bus ride away and bring to life the ancient culture of the Mayan people who call the Yucatan their home.

Local restaurants offer the finest seafood, traditional Mexican cuisine,  or an international flavor. The "catch of the day" and fresh fruits and vegetables can be purchased in the local markets and prepared in you own kitchen.

If the excitement of Playa del Carmen or the hotel district of Cancun call out to you, a  a taxi can convenienty come right to your door for pickups and dropoffs.

Perhaps the greatest treasure of the Mexican Caribbean and Puerto Morelos are the warm and friendly people.

Just a short walk down our beach is an intersting cenote just off the shore in the ocean!!  Cenotes are enigmatic and unique in the world and were once the only resource for fresh water in the local Yucatecan jungle and therefore considered sacred.  The Yukatan and Quintana Roo is probably best known for its Mayan ruins.  There are numerous magnificent and ancient pyramids within a short distance from Puerto Morelos.  one of our favorite Mayan Ruin is just north of the toen of Vallodolid and is called Ek Balam.  It was built before Chichen Itza (but around the same time asUxmal was constructed) and because it has been  opened ony a short time, it is not over run with tourists.   We also have great off shore snorkeling and scuba diving at either The Great Barrier Reef which located less than a mile off shore and  just a short swim from the local beach.  There are a number of awesome theme parks for kids of all ages, including Xel Ha and Xcaret.  There are many world class golf courses near by. There is  terrific fishing right outside your door and the smooth sandy  beach is marvelous for walking as its flat and goes on for miles.
